How you qualify

Sport-specific coaching certifications from the relevant national federation are the core requirement and are graded by level; a Diploma or Degree in Sport Science, Sport Management or Human Movement Science (NQF 6-7) supports higher-level and full-time roles. Most coaches start part-time at school or club level while studying or working. Entry requirements differ by federation and institution - confirm directly with the institution.

We do not publish admission point scores here, because a number that is right for one university in one year is wrong for another. Confirm the requirements directly with the institution before your subject selection form is signed. In KwaZulu-Natal, applications go through the Central Applications Office (cao.ac.za).
