Retail Manager

Runs a store or department - staff, stock, sales targets, service and shrinkage. Weekend and holiday trading is part of the job.

School subjects

Grade 12 with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.

How you qualify

Many managers work up from the floor with in-house training; formal routes include a National Certificate or Diploma in Retail Business Management (NQF 4-6) through W&RSETA-accredited providers or a University of Technology. Entry requirements differ by provider - confirm directly with the institution.
