Import / Export Clerk

Conventional

Handles the paperwork that moves goods across borders - customs documents, permits, shipping and clearing instructions. Accuracy matters more than speed.

School subjects

Grade 12 with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy; Business Studies and Geography help.

How you qualify

A National Certificate or Diploma in Freight Handling, Customs or Logistics (NQF 4-6), or a TETA-accredited learnership; much is learned on the job. Customs clearing work may require registration with SARS through your employer. Entry requirements differ by provider - confirm directly with the institution.

Confirm the requirements directly with the institution before your subject selection form is signed. In KwaZulu-Natal, applications go through the Central Applications Office (cao.ac.za).
