Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy is accepted; English matters most.

How you qualify

There is no required qualification. Degrees in English, Creative Writing or Journalism help you learn the craft and build contacts, but publication depends on the work itself. Expect to earn from other work while building a body of writing. Discuss realistic expectations with your counsellor.

Any; degrees in English or Creative Writing are common but not required

Before you decide. Entry requirements change every year and differ between institutions. We do not publish admission point scores here, because a number that is right for one university in one year is wrong for another. Confirm the requirements directly with the institution before your subject selection form is signed. In KwaZulu-Natal, applications go through the Central Applications Office (cao.ac.za).
