Leads the visual side of a campaign, publication or production - deciding how it should look and directing the people who make it. Reached after years as a designer.

School subjects

Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy is accepted; Visual Arts and Design help.

How you qualify

A Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or Advertising (NQF 6-7). This is a senior role - expect several years as a designer or junior creative first, building a portfolio of directed work. Entry requirements differ by institution - confirm directly with the institution.

Universities, Universities of Technology and DHET-registered private art and design institutions
