Selects, preserves and catalogues records so they can be found and used in future - in government, universities, museums or business.

School subjects

Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy is accepted; History and Languages help.

How you qualify

A degree or diploma in Information Science, Archival Studies or Library and Information Science (NQF 6-7), often with a postgraduate qualification for senior posts. Most employers are government departments, universities and museums. Entry requirements differ by institution - confirm directly with the institution.

We do not publish admission point scores here, because a number that is right for one university in one year is wrong for another. Confirm the requirements directly with the institution before your subject selection form is signed. In KwaZulu-Natal, applications go through the Central Applications Office (cao.ac.za).
